Maintain A Positive & Godly Mind-set

Today I will "Let this mind be in me which was also in Christ Jesus". You know this passage of scripture from Philippians 2:5, which speaks of us keeping our minds as Christ would position his sights. Well yesterday i forgot to read that scripture at the beginning of my journey.

You see I had no gas for my car and I had to walk to the library just to get on the internet and check my email. See i forgot the "set your minds on the things which are above" as Colossians 3:2 stated. All I can remember is my legs burning from the constant pounding of my feet and hot asphalt. The sweat from my body soaked the shirt that i was wearing until my flesh and shirt became one, like i just rose from a swimming pool.

See the talk is easy but the walk is hard. Many state that if they lose everything than it would be alright just as long as they have Jesus. Okay then what happen to that joyful praise when your body is stricken with cancer or you lose your job? See it is our job to maintain a positive & godly mind-set despite our circumstance, and this is the lesson God would have me learn on the road to Green's Library.

See we must learn to seek the best in every situation. Philippians 4:8 tells us, "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things". We can choose to complain about what we don't have or we can choose to bless God for closing one door and opening a bigger and better door for his glory in our lives!

I must say the walk was very hard, but it was much needed time with my father. He showed me what i lost but what i had to gain in the midst of the trying trial. I spoke with my brother of the faith and he scream the exacted same things! We spend so much time nursing a unhealthy mind-set that doesn't resembles Christ thought pattern that we stay confused and depressed. This is defiantly not something that a loving father would want his children to experience. He wants to teach us lessons to strengthen our faith but we must fill our faith thru the reading of His word daily!

You have a choice to either feed your mind-set a negative aspect of your situation or feed it the truth/positive aspect of your situation. If you choose the truth that means you rely on the Word of God and believe what it states about you and your father's ability to change your circumstance. Now don't sit home and do nothing..continue to work as you are working unto God, but do it with a joyful and thankful heart.

Joel Osteen stated:
"Our mind is similar to the transmission in a car. We chan choose which way we want to go by engaging the gears. It doesn't take any more effort to go forward than it does to go backward."

I believe that if you change your perspective for your situation and trial you will change the situation and trial. Changing your perspective to see God in the situation and hold to the truths of the bible. Meditate on the Word of God day and night and see the God of the Bible work on your behalf for his glory.

We have to maintain a positive & godly Mind-set.

How true this is! It seems like it's easier to think on the negative than on the positive. As a Christian, we have to train our minds to think on the things of Christ and as a result we will walk in the ways of Christ. Everyday is a struggle, but the key is that we continue to press despite how hard it may get. I heard a preacher say, it's during those times that we don't think God is listening that He is right there with us. Even when He is silent and our prayers seem to go unanswered, He is right there. The preacher said he couldn't understand why God would allow people to lie on him and treat him the way they did when he didn't do anything wrong. He prayed and prayed for God to do something and yet God did nothing. After the trial was over, the man went to God and said God I thank you for delivering me from that situation, but why didn't you say something. God said to him, "when have you ever seen a teacher remain quiet when he was in the room?" It was only during a TEST that the teacher was quiet and didn't give us the answers to our questions. It was because everything we needed to pass the test was already in us. All those Sunday sermons and Wednesday bible study lessons were being put to the test. God is trying to find out what we really learned. Everything He deposits into us must come out. Every tree must produce fruit. I see your fruit Mr. Young. God bless.

You know having faith, keeping a positive mind-set, and picturing yourself like Christ has seen you before you were born is hard work. It really is, but when we work hard to continue in it we can eat the fruit that it bares. I pray for the Body of Christ to continue seeing themselves as Christ see us!

I think it is difficult at times to have a positive perspective or view. However, I am trying my best to ignore the negative and unhelpful thoughts that often plague my mind, and keep me from moving forward. I have, over the last few years, allowed myself to dwell on negative thoughts which ended up paralyzing me, keeping me from moving forward.
