A living miracle of God, Derrell Alkay-William Young (“YOUNG”) was born in 1982. Despite a problematic pregnancy and abortion advisements, Ricky and Cheryl Young brought a son into the world, turning him over to the Lord for His will to be done.
Raised in Plymouth, North Carolina, YOUNG and his brother, Ricky Jr., were often left to care for themselves while their parents struggled to make ends meet and avoid welfare. A member of a Christian family called to the streets, YOUNG experienced the joys that could have led him to death. Through his life experiences, YOUNG understands what it means to live without necessities such as lights, food and heat. His perspective on life is one of appreciation and gratitude to the Lord for His never-ending love.
A man with a purpose and clad in the armor of God, YOUNG perseveres with a favorite scripture etched in his heart: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” (John 15:16)
